Heather Baxter is excited to be traveling with her new husband and step-children. She thought that the trip to Australia for Tom's conference would be a wonderful bonding experience for the family. Olivia and Owen have yet to fully accept Heather, but she thinks this trip will help them to accept her. Especially when she takes their side and persuades Tom to take a day off and go exploring with them. They rent a Porsche Cayenne and find themselves on Dutch Island in search of local wildlife. Instead of finding a cute koala bear, the Baxter family are in a horrible accident that leads them to the fight of their lives.

The Island is the perfect thriller to throw in your beach bag. It is a fast-paced and heart-pounding thriller. Heather Baxter is a young, twenty-four, stepmother who is of course, pretty and spoiled. She was almost cliched. As was her husband, Tom. Tom came across as borderline misogynistic. Despite these facts, I still found myself very engaged. Think Survivor crossed with Stepmom. I don't know enough about cars to know if the end was farfetched, but I know that it had me on the edge of my seat. CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS

Bottom Line - I expect to see The Island on all the "Must read this Summer" lists that come out this time of year. It is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
