I wasn't planning on reading The Favorites, but it was showing up on all of my feeds. So I fired it up, and I wasn't disappointed. Almost immediately, I had this overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Remember the old 90's movie, The Cutting Edge? This book reminded me of that movie. Listening to it on audiobook is the way to go because it reads like a documentary, with the interviews and such. It made it an easy book to listen to.
I will say that for as much as I liked it, it felt excessively long. There were a few points where the book could have ended, and it would have felt natural and complete. That was the only reason why I didn't add it to my "best of 2025" list.
