Cleo McDougal is on the cusp of running for the highest office in the land. She is a single mother who has always been overachieving and ambitious. All the way back to her childhood, Cleo McDougal single-minded in her quest for success. And then Cleo discovers that her best friend from junior high has written a scathing op-ed about why she would never vote for Cleo. Cleo has a lot of regrets in her life and the way she treated Mary Anne is just one of them. Cleo's right-hand and current best friend, Gaby, suggests that Cleo make the trip home to Seattle and apologize to Mary Anne. That trip starts Cleo on a journey of self-examination. Will she be able to mend the fences that she has damaged on her way to being a successful politician?

I really enjoyed Cleo McDougal Regrets Nothing. Cleo McDougal is a strong female character that offered a lot of great insights, advice for women, which made me actually "share" them on social media - and I never do that. Like "Women who were constantly apologizing were at a disadvantage in any negotiation and, of course, taken less seriously..." - Um, preach.  And "Words were words were words. Intent mattered." Intent DOES matter. But so does impact. I thought that Cleo was a little arrogant at times, but I think it was to hide her vulnerability - her regrets. I really loved the way the book ended, the way Cleo was able to right some wrongs in her life. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS

Bottom Line - Cleo McDougal Regrets Nothing was better than I expected, being heavy on the politics. Cleo is a smart, strong character who could (and should) serve as a role model to women of all ages.
