(85)The Wives by Tarryn Fisher

Thursday thought that she had met the man of her dreams when she met Seth.  They were on their fourth date when he told her his secret; he was already married and was looking to add another wife to his family. He was a polygamist. His first wife, Monday, can't have children and he thinks that Thursday will be the perfect addition to his family. The only catch is that Thursday can have no contact with the others.  Even when Seth adds a third wife to the family, Thursday has to take her allotted day with Seth and be happy about it.  Until she finds a receipt in his pocket and she gets curious about the other wives.  Who are they? What do they look like?  And then she does the unforgivable and meets one of them when she does Thursday realizes that Seth may not be the man she thought.

Wow. The Wives one of those books that will leave your head spinning. You never learn Thursday's name,  you will only know her by the day of the week that she gets to spend with Seth. You do learn the names of the other wives, though.  Regina was the first wife and Hannah was the third wife.  When Thursday first meets Hannah is when things really start to go off the rails with Seth.  The author gets the reader caught in a web of deceit, you just don't realize it until the end. I want to be careful to not spoil anything - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS - but I am not sure that I have ever had such a "WTF" moment when reading a book.

Bottom Line - The Wives is a crazy story told by an unreliable narrator. But here is the thing, Thursday and Seth's other wives are a train wreck that you just can't turn away from and we all know that those are the best books.
