Violet Volk has been gone for ten years. A famous magician with a huge cult-following, Violet disappeared from one of her shows and hasn't been seen since. The ten-year anniversary of that show is coming up and Violet's sister, Sasha, is being contacted by a podcaster hoping to make a name for himself. Sasha doesn't want to talk about Violet with anybody and especially not a podcaster. But she realizes that her unresolved issues with her sister may contribute to her weird sleepwalking habit, so she seeks out a therapist. Will Sasha ever get closure over her sister's disappearance? Will the ten-year anniversary be the year that Violet finally returns?
Take my advice: Acts of Violet is best experienced in the audiobook format. The story is told through a series of podcast episodes, letters, and general narration. The story is quite immersive when listening to the audiobook. Acts of Violet is unique and a bit magical. Is Violet Volk a great magician, or does she have some sort of supernatural ability? I think one thing that I loved about this book is that the author asks you to suspend your belief. She pushes you out of your comfort zone to believe the unbelievable. CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS
Bottom Line - Even though Acts of Violet has a magical element, at the heart of the story is a book about two sisters. And the messiness that sometimes happens between sisters.
