Kenna Rowan has been in prison for the last five years, serving time for a tragic mistake. Kenna didn't realize that she was pregnant when she pled guilty, and now it has been over four years since she has seen her daughter, Diem. Kenna would do anything to see her daughter, to smell her hair, hold her hand. And listen to her giggle. Ledger Ward has been looking out for his best friend's daughter ever since her birth. Even though Diem lives with her grandparents, Ledger takes on a parental role and would do anything to keep this precious little girl happy and safe. Even if that means keeping her ex-con mother out of her life. Ledger decides to keep an eye on Kenna by offering her a job at his bar. What he doesn't expect is that he actually likes Kenna. But does he like her enough to help her get her daughter back?

True confession. I sobbed and sobbed while reading Reminders of Him. The kind of sobbing that stays with you all day. I don't even remember the last time I cried that hard or that much. Kenna Rowan is an amiable character to like. She desperately wants to be a part of her daughter's life - who can't empathize with that? Ledger also starts out wanting to hate Kenna, but even he realizes that Kenna is not a person to be hated. Then when he reads her letter about the day of the accident - that is when it changes for him. And for you the reader. That is when you need the tissues. Colleen Hoover has been known to not give her readers a "happy ending" - but I assure you, Reminders of Him has an ending that will leave you satisfied and feeling complete.

Bottom Line - The actual plot of Reminders of Him is never going to win any awards. The characters are young and flawed. And the relationships are messy. But anytime an author can stir such emotion in their readers, they are a master of their craft. That is why I am giving this book the first "Best of 2022" tag. I love a book that can stir emotion.
