When Jennifer Barnes went to the doctor to get her test results, she wasn't expecting to receive news that she had terminal brain cancer and that she had just six weeks to live. She calls her daughters, triplets, to be by her side. Emily is the daughter most like her, not only in looks but also because Emily got pregnant in med school just like Jennifer did. Aline is the brilliant scientist who has the most contentious relationship with Jennifer and Miranda is the one whose life is a mess and is back living at home with Jennifer. Jennifer struggles with the diagnoses and thinks back to a doctor visit a year ago and discovers extremely high levels of lead in her system. She has been poisoned. Jennifer believes it is her estranged husband, her daughter's father, that wanted her dead. Now she has six weeks to prove it, while taking the secrets of her past to the grave with her. Will Jennifer be able to solve her own murder before it is too late?
Six Weeks To Live has to be one of the most clever books I have read in a long time. The concept of a woman solving her own murder is unique in the psychological thriller genre. Jennifer Barnes has a complicated relationship with her daughters. As most mothers do with their daughters. However, there are some secrets that Jennifer would do anything to keep from her daughters. I was really torn between believing that somebody poisoned Jennifer and believing that it was Jennifer's way of coping with the news that she was dying. I didn't really care for any of Jennifer's daughters. They came across as incredibly self-involved. Even after their mother's diagnosis. The truth really surprised me, both from the past and from the present. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS
Bottom Line - A book like Six Weeks To Live doesn't come around very often. A unique plot and a surprising ending makes for an superb read. The very definition of page-turner.
