I am a child of the 80s. And that means being a fan of Ralph Macchio. Not just the Karate Kid, but Johnny Cade in The Outsiders. In his new memoir, Waxing On Ralph Macchio talks about his most famous role. From casting to shooting the movie and everything in between. Obviously, the title of the book indicates the main focus of the book is his role as Danny LaRusso. Both in the movie and in the wildly popular Netflix show, Cobra Kai. Yeah, it was interesting. But I wish there had been more about filming The Outsiders. Or filming My Cousin Vinny.
I will say that I loved his story about being at the 2015 World Series when his NY Mets played my KC Royals. He talked about being at the game and having a "karate kid" moment on the jumbotron. For the record, his team lost that world series. :)
What it boils down to is that Ralph Macchio is one of those rare, "nice guys" in Hollywood. Married to the same woman for thirty-five years, Ralph Macchio has led a relatively boring life by celebrity standards. And that is not a bad thing.
