Andrea Oliver is a brand new U.S. Marshall when she is called on to protect a federal judge who has been receiving death threats. Judge Vaughn once had a daughter, Emily, who died under tragic, mysterious conditions. And they did not find her killer. What the Judge may not know is that Andrea's father was one man who could have killed Emily. Andrea grew up in witness protection because her father, Clayton Morrow, is a dangerous psychopath, with connections to the judge. Emily tries to find out who is sending the judge death threats while working to find Emily's killer. Will she be able to succeed at one or both of her missions?

Andrea Oliver should be a familiar character if you are a Karin Slaughter fan. Andrea Oliver was "Andy Cooper" in Pieces of Her. She is a bit of a badass, with a messy past. Andrea is determined to be successful at being a US Marshall and her new partner, Catfish Bible is going to help her get there. Their chemistry as partners really made the story enjoyable and offset the dark parts of the story. The story is told in alternating timelines told from Andrea in the present and Emily Vaughn in the past. And there is a definite connection between the judge's threats and what happened all those years ago. CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS.

Bottom Line - Karin Slaughter is know for writing some really dark themes. While Girl, Forgotten has some dark themes, it is not as graphic as some of her past books. And I for one, look forward to seeing what comes next for Andrea Oliver!
