If you have Amazon
Prime it is likely that you have seen the promos for their new show,
Modern Love. Each of the eight episodes is a new story based on the New York Times column of the same title. I enjoyed the show so much that after binge-watching all of Season One, I rushed to click "Buy Now" on my
e-reader.
The book is a compilation of stories from the column. Including the eight stories that
were featured in the show. The stories are not just about traditional love stories. There are those, but there are also love stories about families, children, and friendship.
There is a story of a woman whose husband is transitioning to a female. There is another story of a teacher who adopts one of her students, even though the student is only eleven years younger than her. And you get more background of some stories featured in the show.
Ann Leary, Denis Leary's wife, actually wrote the story that episode about the husband and wife playing tennis is based on.
I was surprised to find that out, but love that they
were able to work things out and stay married.
Bottom Line - I haven't enjoyed a book as much as I enjoyed
Modern Love in a very long time. The stories are all quick, only a few pages long. But most of them pack an emotional punch. I have even started listening to the
podcast featuring the stories from the New York Times. And it is just as good as the book. It is not to
be missed!
