Hope Anderson and Tru Walls don't have a lot in common, but they find themselves on the same North Carolina beach at the same time over twenty years ago. Tru was there to meet his long-lost father and Hope was there for a friend's wedding. They only had a weekend, but it was love at first sight. They made the most of every moment that they had together to learn everything about each other. Tru is a safari guide from Zimbabwe with a young son. Hope is a nurse who has been in an on/off
relationship with a guy named Josh. And her dad has just
been diagnosed with
ALS, At the end of the weekend, they both have choices they have to make. Will they choose each other or will their love have to
end after just three days?
It has been years since I last read a Nicholas Sparks book. I got so frustrated by the predictability that I stopped reading his books. And then
Every Breath was selected as the November book for my book club. It didn't take me long to realize that the author's writing style had not changed. It was so
frustratingly predictable. The handsome man sweeps the female main character off her feet. Orders for her at the restaurant, but is kind enough to make her coffee the next morning. I wanted to throw the book when Hope made her choice (for very selfish reasons) and figured out the twist in like the second chapter. -

Bottom Line - I can live with predictability, I love Hallmark movies
, after all. But I can't live with bad choices and misogynistic behavior. It sets a bad example for women everywhere. And worse, it sets a bad example for young women who think
that marrying and staying with a man who treats you
very poorly is okay because he will give you children.
