January is a good month to read "self-help" books. My book club selected Everything Is Figureoutable for our January read.
I struggle with reading some self-help books because they are just a regurgitation of other books. In this book the author referred a lot to the book Mindset by Dr. Carol Dweck. I don't have a problem with that. Mindset is easily one of the most popular nonfiction book in the last decade. What I really liked about this author is her piece of advice that basically says, what is the worst that could happen? It is really good advice. I know for myself, too often I get in my own head when trying to make a decision. And really, what is the worst thing that could happen? Somebody says no? People don't buy my book? I won't know until I try to neither will you.
Bottom Line - Everything is Figureoutable is "self-help" for a new generation. The author is quite liberal with her swears, but it isn't because she is trying to shock you, she is being authentic.
