France - 1714. Addie LaRue is on the verge of being forced into a marriage she doesn't want. In a moment of desperation, Addie LaRue makes a deal with a handsome devil. She just wants to live. She makes a deal with the devil and it dooms Addie to live. Some might see that as an extraordinary gift, but Addie does not. Because people can only remember Addie for as long as they are with her. The minute they walk out of the room, Addie becomes a stranger again. Until one day three hundred years later, she walks into a used bookstore to return a book she stole. And the manager remembers her. And that she stole the book. Addie is exhilarated and confused. She has been living alone for three hundred years and now a handsome young man remembers her. After centuries of a lonely existence, is Addie LaRue finally going to be happy?

I am surprised at how much I enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I felt bad for Addie. She made an impulsive decision in order to avoid marrying a man she didn't love. The eternal life thing might not be so bad - think of all you could do. All you could see. But Addie couldn't have real, meaningful relationships because nobody remembered her. Until Henry. Henry was smart and handsome. And interested in everything about Addie. It was fun to watch their relationship blossom. Addie was right, though. The other shoe was about to drop. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS One thing that I really liked about the book was how the author casually wrote about queer relationships as if it were common in all blockbuster novels. They SHOULD be common, but they are not, and it was refreshing to read. I also think that the author set it up for a sequel. I know that some people were frustrated by the ending, but I think it was a set up for a sequel.

Bottom Line - The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is part sci-fi, part romance, and pure delight. It is rare that I think about a book very much after finishing it. Addie LaRue stuck with me for days!
