Lauren and Kate are sisters who meet up with their mother for lunch every Sunday. It is their way of staying connected after their father, the glue of their family, died suddenly. Lauren and Kate don't have the best relationship and they are both dealing with their own stuff, but they still want to keep up appearances for their mother. One Sunday they are at their mother's for lunch when the doorbell rings. The woman at the door claims to be their half-sister. Will the sisters be able to get to the truth? Is this woman really their half-sister?
Lauren and Kate are not exactly close sisters who have very different opinions of their late father. They both didn't realize the truths of each other's lives. Like Kate was struggling with infertility and Lauren's marriage was not exactly happy. I thought it was sad and I felt bad for both of them that their relationship was not a good one. Their mother seemed odd to me from the very beginning. She just didn't seem warm and fuzzy. It is eventually revealed why and I can't say that it was a surprise.
Bottom Line - The Half Sister did not really live up to my expectations. I have enjoyed other books by Sandie Jones, but this one just didn't grab me.
