The future is now and dating will never be the same. For more than a decade people looking for love have submitted their DNA to the company Match Your DNA to be matched with their perfect match. Match Your DNA takes away all the guesswork of dating - it is science. But even science can have some consequences. Marriages are destroyed and families have been torn apart all in the name of being matched.  The One follows five people as they discover their match and it soon becomes clear that just because they are matched doesn't mean that they get their "happily ever-after."

The One could be considered a sci-fi novel because of the futuristic topic of DNA matching. Or they could consider it a love story because of the people who find love. But because one of the matched in the book, Christopher, is a serial killer - I would call it a psychological thriller. The five people that are so different, yet so fascinating. One is a high-powered exec. One is a man engaged to his college sweetheart and he is matched with another man. One is matched with a man that has cancer. One is matched with a man who is no longer with us. And one is a serial killer who is matched with a police officer. What is crazier than that? I wasn't sure that I was going to like this book because of the sci-fi  element, but I really quite enjoyed it.  Each one of the five had a little twist at the end, which may or may not have led to a happy ending. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS

Bottom Line - The One is a fast-paced thriller that will have you both on the edge of your seat and reaching for your tissues. It seems like an interesting combination, but John Marrs makes it work.
